Description

This position will support development of ground system software for a robotic spacecraft servicing mission being developed at the Naval Research Lab (NRL) near Washington, DC.

Designs, develops troubleshoots and analyzes software programs for computer-based/robotic systems. Performs systems modeling, simulation and analysis. Designs and develops compilers, assemblers, utility programs and operating systems. Advises hardware design engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed and input/output requirements. As required, provides inputs for documentation of new or existing programs.Designs, develops troubleshoots and analyzes software programs for computer-based/robotic systems. Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 2 years applicable software design engineering experience.

Required:

  • Strong C/C and Python skills

  • Java experience

  • Documentation experience

Desired:

  • Robot Operating System (ROS) and Robot visualization (RViz) software experience (or other robot modeling tools)

  • General robotics experience

  • Neptune experience

  • Git familiarity
