Operational Psychologist (National Capital Region, DC)
The Operational Psychologist will provide technical expertise, guidance, and direct clinical service in the area of operational psychology to special operations forces (SOF)May develop, plan and initiate resiliency programs for preventing and treating behavior health issues to support all aspects of a service member readiness and resiliencyProvide crisis response and follow-up-up care in the event of unit casualties or other serious accidents.Position is contingent upon award of contractRequired Education/Experience: The psychologist shall hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Psychology Doctor (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA approved psychology program (or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army). Shall have completed an APA approved internship/residency in clinical psychology (or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Army). Have and maintain a current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Have a minimum of two (2) year’s post-doctoral experience within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of psychology in the area of the clinical psychology, preferably in a Government setting such as a Department of Defense (DOD) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) MTF. Prior experience working with physicians providing medical psychological services is desired. Demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of clinical psychology programs. Demonstrate computer literacy sufficient to operate a personal computer utilizing psychological test, word processing, database and spread sheet programs, and possess basic typing skills sufficient to efficiently produce the psychologist’s own reports and correspondence. All HCPs shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as certified by the American Heart Association. Documentation of such training shall be provided to the COR. The front and back of the BCLS shall be provided to the Credentialing Department. Required Skills/Training: Experience and training in personnel assessment and selection with some experience and understanding of SOF personnel selection processes. Training in critical incident/stress trauma interventions. Fluent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.Desired Education, Experience, Skills or Training: Prior military and/or SOF experience is desired. Post-doctoral training or be willing to obtain training qualifying them as Aerospace Psychologist as demonstrated by completion of USAF and/or USA aviation psychology training (USAFSAM’s Air Force’s Aviation Mishap Intervention and Prevention course and USASAM’s Aeromedical Psychology Training Course). This is a requirement for AFSOC only.Standard Company Requirements: Position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status. Applicant must include desired salary in application submission. Responsible for completing all required training. Perform other assignments and duties, as required.
