Responsibilities of Position:
Assists in the installation, building, testing and repair of components, parts, equipment, and systems for Space Flight programs. Performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed. Performs supervised recurring work reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Support technician for the manufacture, integration and test of instrument mechanical, electrical, thermal or mechanism hardware and possess experience with aerospace methods (contamination/cleaning, handling, etc.)
Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems.
Reads blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling equipment and Space Flight hardware.
Follows specific layouts and diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
Tests equipment, using standard test equipment and procedures, and analyzes results to evaluate performance. Determines if adjustments to equipment are necessary. Makes minor modifications in test setups or procedures as appropriate.
Gathers information on parts or equipment concerning previous operational failures and modifications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To assist in the fabrication, assembly, integration, testing of Space Flight systems.
Must demonstrate at least 2 years of specific discipline, aerospace experience.
Work is to be performed in the Washington D.C. area.
No travel is currently required for this position
Must be able to secure a Secret clearance classification
Must be a United States Citizen
Experience and Education:
Must have a high school diploma plus 2 years of experience in the manufacture, integration and testing of either mechanical, electrical, thermal or mechanism space flight instrument-related hardware, including 1 year of specific discipline and aerospace experience
Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
