This position will provide engineering support to PMA 205 Aviation Training Systems, Tactical Training Ranges (TTR), and the Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) system through the Range Systems Branch of Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR), Patuxent River, Maryland.Additional responsibilities include:

  • Draft, coordinate, and implement test/evaluation strategies, test plans, test procedures and test reports.

  • Support development of test metrics(e.g., critical technical parameters, measures of effectiveness, measures of performance, and critical operational issues)

  • Performs test and evaluation review and analysis of requirements documentation for the purpose of developing evaluation methods critical in creating an overall test and evaluation strategy integrated with other developmental or integrated testing

  • Evaluate contractor generated test plans and procedures

  • Conduct testing at NAS Patuxent River, contractor facilities, Navy /Air Force training ranges and other DOD test facilitiesEducation: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from a school of engineering having at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (or in related disciplines such as physics, mathematics or computer science).Experience: The selected candidate must have at least four (4) years ofexperience associated with engineering functions related to development, test, or evaluation of instrumentation systems. Experience with modeling and simulation test methods is required. Proficiency in MATLAB required.Experience with NAVAIR airworthiness test process and execution desired. Experience with Live Virtual and Constructive (LVC) naval aviation training requirements and training systems a plus.Experience with NAVAIR T&E policies and procedures for test planning, execution and reporting highly desired.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Work conditions will vary. This position requires both laboratory and field work and the employee will often be required to work outdoors on elevated platforms and be capable of frequent stair climbing, with and without equipment. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.Knowledge of RCS signal processing (i.e. FFT, windowing, statistics, and probability distribution functions) is required. Candidate must have a valid driver's license. The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance is required. The selected applicant must be a self-starter, able to work effectively as a member of a technical team.
