ABOUT THIS POSITION:
This position supports Fleet Forces Atlantic Exercise Coordination Center (FFAECC) located at the Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Virginia Capes (FACSFAC VACAPES) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana, Virginia. The FFAECC team provides air/sea space scheduling and de-confliction services, administrative support and the unique service of providing a single point of contact to each and every unit, command and agency that conducts DoD operations within the assigned warning areas and special use airspace.
Assist in providing asset scheduling and planning services for USN staffs and units executing live-fire events supporting the Fleet Readiness Training Plan cycle for deploying forces. Assist in providing asset scheduling and planning services for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) live-fire events utilizing east coast overwater ranges and assets. Provide Range Control services which include directing aircraft and surface assets in support of hazardous naval training events. Manage and update long-range schedules of future training and certification events and provide conflict resolution for assets. Provide technical support for scheduling and exercise conferences, assist lead hazardous events coordinator in researching and providing information required by customers. Update spreadsheets and databases, assist in coordinating Large Force Exercises, provide specific coordination with east coast Special Warfare Commands, and coordinate with aviation and maritime staffs and units planning and conducting hazardous events.
BS degree or equivalent military training and 10 years of related experience is required. Five years of military event scheduling and/or Naval operational exercise experience is required.
Knowledge of naval targets, ranges, airspace, sea space, and support assets is required. Candidate must demonstrate capability to comprehend and apply complex operational risk management strategies associated with the safe execution of hazardous maritime events. Superior communication skills are essential. Knowledge of and experience drafting naval messages is required. Candidate must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and database management such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook e-mail. Candidate must possess strong organizational skills.
Experience directing multiple airborne and maritime assets in support of complex range events is desired. Knowledge of weapons characteristics and tactics is a plus.
