This position will be based at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, CA.

The Electronics Technician II position will plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on complex electronic intrusion detection systems. The position will serve as an expert in intrusion detection systems that include video (IR and day), access control (gates, turnstiles, card readers and keypads), radar perimeter security (FLIR), IR and BMS sensors, giant voice and mass notification equipment and a variety of communication protocols and networking.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Preventive and corrective maintenance on intrusion detection systems of various types and manufacturers

  • Recommend solutions to design problems

  • System tests and analyzing results; modify equipment or installs to improve performance

  • Assist project engineers in developing system, equipment, or installation designs

  • Update drawings and maintaining inventories of spare parts, installed and test equipment

  • Repairs to fiber optic and copper cabling to include fusion splicing, and termination

  • Determine test requirements, equipment and procedures and conduct tests of installed system/equipment using various types of instrumentation

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Local candidates preferred, relocation package not available.


  • Associates degree in electronics technology or a two-year civilian technical electronics curriculum or a four-year trade apprenticeship training program in electronics or graduate of a military Class "A" electronics school

  • Eight years of hands-on experience in the field of electronics systems and equipment, installation, integration, and test and checkout

  • Previous experience must include operational, maintenance and team lead work assignments

  • Clearance: Secret

Working knowledge of the following:

AMAG, DMP alarm monitor and reporting systems; FLIR radars, fiber optic cable and associated communication devices; AC and DC power supplies; CCTV cameras, DVRs, and video switchers; computers (modems, video cards, device drivers, com ports, etc); operating systems MS Server, Windows; networking protocols TCP/IP, network hubs, switchers, server connectivity; computer file backups; microwave transmitter/receivers and spread spectrum communication equipment; data and video multiplexers, standard computer communication protocols (RS-232, RS-484, RS-422, etc.); digital and analog multimeters; hand-held fiber attenuation test meters; OTDRs; TDRs; various other types of test equipment (signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.); fusion splicers, and underground cable locators.


Desired certifications: MS Server 2012, Windows 7, CompTIA Security , Cisco CCNA SP
