Program/Project Manager (Technical Expert)


Job Description:

The USAFE A&AS Program Manager (PM) is the top technical management position on the USAFE A&AS program. The PM is responsible for a multi-functional team of technical experts supporting intelligence collection, evaluation, and dissemination. The technical experts evaluate, design, procure, develop, install, and maintain complicated state-of-the-art computer, telecommunication, and weapon systems. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides program technical direction with respect to hardware and software definition, design, development, test, implementation, and maintenance for the specific customer site

  • Identifies future technical requirements

  • Develops strategies to provide the required technical related resources in a timely manner in order to meet the DoD mission

  • Provides guidance and advice on the design, development, fielding, and maintenance of telecommunication and weapon systems

  • Represents the project at senior level technical briefings

  • Identifies technical personnel requirements for new program positions

  • Reviews capabilities of potential new hire technical expert candidates to ensure they meet job requirements

  • Oversees the application of corporate and Government policies and procedures at all program locations

  • Solicits feedback from the top leaders/managers in the customer community to determine the quality of performance of the USAFE A&AS program, and takes the necessary action to correct any deficiencies Skills: Experience in DoD technology related Program Management, including hardware and software development, test, and deployment. Desired, but not required, skills are experience in managing large (>100 people) multi-functional organizations working on DoD projects and interfacing with high-ranking Government and military officials. Requirements Level I: Master’s degree in a technical or physical science field and 15 years of experience working with the DoD in a technical capacity, or a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or physical science field and 18 years of experience with the DoD in a technical capacity, or 21 years’ experience working with the DoD in a technical and program/project manager capacity. Must have demonstrated practical experience in the area(s) of expertise required in the Task Order, Performance Work Statement. Level II = Level I with 3 additional years’ experience

Level III = Level I with 5 additional years’ experience
