Functional Analyst (Subject Matter Expert)


Job Description:

Researches and analyzes.Performs one or more of the following or related activities: 1) Researches and analyzes plans, concepts, organizations, and requirements in one or more battlefield operating systems (logistics, command and control, etc.). 2) Evaluates current interoperability and effectiveness, and provides recommendations to improve future operations. 3) Evaluates training requirements and develops training programs to ensure military training will support current and future operations. Specific tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides project management and functional expertise for planning, developing, coordinating, and managing organization operations

  • Generates planning activities such as; research requirements, reviews and updates the existing operations/mobility planning documentation

  • Participates in exercise planning activities

  • Assists in identifying operational exercise mission essential tasks lists for unit training plans to meet designed operation capabilities

  • Supports the staff in studying, analyzing and planning scenarios to relocate theater organizations/operations

  • Review, collect and analyze data, to draft reports and briefings and to liaise with other theater organizations

  • Evaluate collected data and its validity and to determine future information needs

  • Drafts operations related documents

  • Works with information technology experts to further automate existing operations related software and processes

  • Analysis contributes to battle staff planning concerning IPB supporting contingency operations in the European AOR.

  • Utilizes analytical problem solving approach to include systems engineering interoperability techniques, investigations, and design reviews

  • Assists in the guidance, development, and integration of joint and combined information technology systems

  • Conducts engineering planning, testing, and validation of potential systems Skills: Analyzes plans, data, intelligence information, or systems. Develops estimates and makes recommendations for deficiencies. Integrates information from a variety of sources into various systems; ensures proper systems interface. Collects data for analysis. Develops products resulting from analysis. Requirements Level I: Master's degree in a related field and 3 years of recent specialized experience; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years of recent specialized experience; OR 10 years of recent specialized experience. Must have demonstrated practical experience in the area(s) of expertise required in the Task Order, Performance Work Statement. Level II = Level I with 3 additional years’ experience Level III = Level I with 5 additional years’ experience
