Metrology Operations Supervisor

Description

Responsible for the management, integration and coordination of work groups and/or units engaged in similar or related routine operational activities. Responsible for the scheduling of calibrations and repairs of assigned IM&TE.Establishes unit objectives, work plans, schedules, and ensures resources are available for completion of established operational assignments. Performs administrative activities (i.e. developing budgets, cost/benefits analysis). Oversees activities of subordinates, ensures a productive work environment and department objectives are completed in accordance with quality standards, time and budget constraints. Advises staff on operational projects and tasks. May perform higher level tasks associated with an individual contributor role. Focuses on resource development and process improvements. Evaluates and implements changes in work procedures in assigned areas. Recommends candidates for employment. Conducts performance evaluations, plans salary actions, recommends promotions, interprets and applies organization policies, and monitors and resolves employee situations. Develops and trains subordinates. Enhances communications by facilitating team meetings. Performs all other duties as assigned. Position is guided by department objectives and works under managerial direction. Provides direction to staff and assists with the implementation of department and company initiatives. Develops plans for operational improvements. Decisions may have a major impact on the overall success of the day to day operations. Provides frequent customer interaction on operational issues. Applies wide application of theories, principles and concepts to operational planning.Assists the Regional Program Manager in obtaining new business/customers.Supports other regions/markets as required.

Leadership skills, ability to counsel, coach, develop, and motivate staff of professionals. Team building and facilitation skills. Solid communication/presentation skills. Exhibits full use of standard theories, principles, concepts and techniques. Knowledge of advanced aspects of technical specialties in assigned area(s) of responsibilities.

Qualifications

BS/BA Degree in technical or management discipline plus 7 to 10 years of progressive experience, Master degree in Management preferred. In lieu of degree, 15 years in Metrology with increasing roles and responsibilities.Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.PMEL trained or equivalent highly preferred.

Must Have:

  • Previous metrology management experience.

  • PMEL trained.

  • Demonstrated history of leading a team to meet goals.

  • Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Impeccable attention to detail.

  • Ability to successfully communicate to in-person and remote team members.

  • Experience using data analytics to make decisions.
