The Technology Transfer activity at Ames was formed to develop and expand partnerships between NASA and U.S. industrial firms for innovative technology development.

The candidate will assist in the continued preparation and development of NASA Ames Research Center Technology Transfer programs for organizational success and to support NASA Ames in fulfilling its mission. The candidate in this position will be expected to support outreach and reports.

The candidate provides direct support to the NASA Ames Technology Transfer Office and to the Partnerships Office as necessary to develop, refine and implement an effective strategy maximizing the impact of Ames marketing efforts. The strategy will recognize and leverage Ames’ Silicon Valley proximity while also addressing the importance of outreach and marketing engagement on the national stage. Support includes but is not necessarily limited to:

  • Research and Evaluate technology assessments to determine technical and market viability.

  • Provide Technology Transfer (T2) support at meetings with Ames Legal office.

  • Promote Ames’ intellectual property through support at events and conferences (local or distant), set-up and staff exhibits, [Approx. 10 per year].

  • Engage discussions with Ames researchers and principal investigators to gain knowledge and insight about the technology and commercial application options/Field of Use [As needed].

  • After consultation with the Licensing Manager, arrange meetings with industry representatives and government to explore potential licensing opportunities.

  • Identify Spinoff leads for publication which includes researching leads to confirm the technology qualifies as a potential candidate.

  • Compile a list of technologies to evaluate for commercial value, or patentability.

  • Reports include: ARC HQ reports on a weekly basis, Code DI reports on a weekly basis and Monthly highlights for Code DI.

  • Compile, track and generate a list of cost plus, cost avoidance and task plan revenue for the partnerships executed on a monthly basis.

  • Track the revenue on a quarterly basis for the fiscal year.

  • Generate quarterly partnership reports for Code DI Directorate.

  • Generate the Tech Transfer/Partnership metrics on a quarterly basis.

  • Occasionally generate reports as requested to identify trends, decrease in numbers, etc.

  • Send out reminder emails to the POC for license that have upcoming reports and/or royalties due.

  • Update the license Point of Contact list as new license are executed or once a license has expired.

  • Process and submit approvals for access to Stratos.

  • Track and maintain the Tech Brief internal mailing list.

  • Must maintain confidentiality for all proprietary information and follow all relevant directions relating to Export Administration restrictions, Sensitive-But-Unclassified information, computer and IT security.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelors with 0 to 2 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Required Skills/Training:

  • Flexibility to multi-task and meet competing deadlines.

  • Strong organizational, documentation, and tracking skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of computers, computer servers, installation of computer data bases, managing computer websites/webpages, creating computer file sharing services, creating video imaging files, customizing video clips and soundtracks for presentations, and developing computer backup data systems.

Desired Education, Experience, Skills or Training:

  • Technical, engineering or science background.

  • Prior experience working at NASA Ames Research Center.

  • Responsible for understanding contractor/civil servant protocols.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with coworkers, NASA task customers and the customers of the organization we support.

  • The capability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Some experience with NASA Ames Partnerships Office, Space Act Agreements, Partnerships Agreement Maker (PAM) and E-router, NASA Technology Transfer System (NTTS).

  • Current knowledge of NASA policy and procedure.
