Individual will install prototype and production avionics systems, performing functional system testing and troubleshooting in aircraft and system integration laboratories. Work from blueprints, technical directives, technical data and engineering specifications incorporating aircraft electrical/structural changes and service repair directives. Tasks will also include design/modifying complex and non-routine parts, avionics mounting plates, aircraft structures, racks, aircraft wiring routes and providing creative solutions for installation. Assist with overhauls, repairs, modifications, fabrications with electrical/structural components. Manufacture, troubleshoot, re-work and modify aircraft electrical/structural assemblies, components and accessories. Ability to examine/evaluate/design aircraft electrical/metal structures prior to the aircraft modifications to assure proper repairs and maintenance. Research and assist engineering personnel in developing and recommending corrections to efforts in modifications or changes to required documentation.Education/ Experience:A high school diploma or equivalency certification is required; plus successful completion of a technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum or course of study in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordinance or engineering technology; or successful completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of course studies at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum. Eight (8) yearsof related experience is required. Previous aircraft integration (electrical) experience is required. The selected applicant will have experience fabricating and integrating loose wiring assemblies in military aircraft and able to understand and build up connectors using the proper tools. Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: The selected applicant will have the ability to comprehend schematics and integration/installation drawings.The selected applicant is required to have a thorough understanding and familiarization with aircraft and shipboard installation practices, aircraft and shipboard electric and electronic wiring, NAVAIR 01-1A-505 and Wiring Aerospace Vehicle AS50881.The selectedapplicant should be able to communicate and prioritize duties, requirements and responsibilities precisely and be organized and detailed oriented. The selected applicant should be able to perform modifications, calibrations and installations on components such as but not limited to strain gauges, pressure transducers, and accelerometers. In addition, the selected applicant should have the ability to balance customer relations with company guidelines and sound business practices. Familiarization with the installation of fiber optic components, testing, and troubleshooting on Naval air vehicles, surface ships, and submarines. A Current or previously Certified Fiber Optic Installer (CFOI) and/or Navy Shipboard Fiber Optic Installer from the Electronics Technician Association (ETA) is highly desired.
