HHPIT Infrastructure Architect
The Human Health and Performance Information Technology (HHPIT) Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the strategic planning and design of infrastructure technology solutions to support the information technology needs of NASA's Human Health and Performance Directorate. As a technical leader in the organization, the Infrastructure Architect will work with the Enterprise Architect and Solution Architects to develop strategy for the Mission and Medical Information System (MMIS), with particular focus on enterprise technology strategy and planning, designing and developing efficient implementations of current services, as well as providing roadmaps and delivery plans for future services and capabilities. The Infrastructure Architect will also collaborate with the Infrastructure Operations Team to insure that MMIS infrastructure strategy and design are properly implemented.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
Responsible for completing all assigned training
Collaborate with Enterprise Architect and Solution Architects to develop strategy for the MMIS infrastructure.
Collaborate with Infrastructure Operations Team to implement strategy for the MMIS infrastructure.
Collaborate with Information Technology Security Team to ensure strategy and implementation decisions adhere to applicable IT Security policy and standards.
Evaluate and recommend technologies that best fit business and IT strategic needs.
Work with the HHPIT team and customer to ensure the overall infrastructure architecture is consistent with, and fully supports, the overall business and platform architectures for the program.
Participate in budget planning to support infrastructure architecture efforts.
Ensure consistent use of IT enterprise architecture strategy, framework and supporting processes.
Engage with management, customers (both internal and external) and project stakeholders to understand system requirements.
Maintain in-depth and up to date knowledge of industry standards, guidelines, technology trends.
Participate in technical review of new project requests, and associated materials, as called for by the Systems Engineering Process (SEP).
Provide weekly status report of work activities to HHPIT Task Order Manager.
Ensure that deliverables meet all applicable KBRwyle and NASA quality standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities occasionally require work on weekends and/or evenings, sometimes with little to no advance notice.
- B.S. or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or comparable technical degree.
20 years of professional experience, with 15 years experience working in an information technology infrastructure environment, with at least 2 years of recent infrastructure architecture/design experience.
Thorough understanding of enterprise class infrastructure including firewalls, load balancers, storage systems, backup systems, monitoring, security, etc.
Thorough understanding of Cloud Computing, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud delivery models and the current commercial provider landscape.
Experience with producing budget estimates, resource plans and schedules for IT infrastructure projects.
Experience with working in IT infrastructure projects across a broad spectrum of end user computing technologies. Relevant, meaningful and demonstrable experience with the following technologies:
Server hardware and operating systems (Windows & Linux)
Storage Area Networks (EMC)
Previous experience as a senior member of an infrastructure operations team (e.g. senior systems administrator).
Experience with software development, including software architecture.
Experience with infrastructure consolidation, including transitioning infratsructure resources to the cloud.
Experience with ITIL frameworks.
Knowledge of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
The position requires a person who is attentive to detail, and who can apply a methodical approach to problem solving. In addition, the position requires the following skills and training:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations to a management audience.
The ability to translate complex concepts and solutions to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical certifications in relevant vendor technology and methodologies/frameworks (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, EMC, ITIL)
