Systems Engineer

Description

Perform all duties of the Aura Command & Data Handling (CDH) Subsystem Engineer, which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Directly report to the Aura Flight Systems Manager (FSM)

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the CDH subsystem for the Aura spacecraft (components include onboard computers, spacecraft 1553 bus, solid state recorder, transponder interface electronics, etc)

  • Monitor the trending and analysis data for the CDH subsystems on a daily, weekly, monthly and long term basis

  • Assist online engineers in identifying and correcting CDH problems encountered in real-time at anytime including off-hours/weekends

  • Assist offline engineers in identifying and correcting spacecraft issues

  • Understand On-Board Fault Management (OBFM) and how to respond to all CDH related spacecraft anomalies

  • Maintain the spacecraft clock to within mission requirements, which includes trending & analysis of performance and computing & uplinking frequency adjustments

  • Develop/Create process improvements, enhancements for the CDH subsystems and Aura spacecraft in order to improve accuracy or efficiency

  • Create and update CDH procedures, pages, plots, etc

  • Train new online engineers about the CDH subsystem

  • Submit monthly and other report status of the CDH subsystem as needed

  • Attend all necessary meeting related to the CDH subsystem and Aura spacecraft. This can include leading CDH related meetings and/or providing inputs for the CDH subsystem

Qualifications

Education Requirements (Systems Engineer or Experienced Systems Engineer):

  • BS in Engineering or related discipline

Experience Requirements (Systems Engineer):

  • Supported on-console flight operations in the past or currentlywith at least 6 month supporting on-console flight operations (EOS Flight Operations preferred)

Experience Requirements (Experienced Systems Engineer):

  • 1 year of spacecraft flight operations experience including subsystem experience (EOS Flight Operations preferred)
