APS-3: Quality Control Inspector - Maintenance


The Maintenance Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspections of maintenance and repair of military equipment. Responsible for following all applicable regulations, SOP's, technical manuals, PWS and all contractual requirements.Thisposition may be subject to short term deployments and selected candidate must maintain deployment requirements and eligibility.

Specific Responsibilities:

Quality Control Inspector will perform routine inspections for the APS-3 program throughout the maintenance and logistics operations. Inspections will be conducted in the work areas, test areas and various locations throughout the site for items being prepared for and maintained in storage. Inspections will be conducted in a manner to ensure processes are effective and the products/services meet or exceed customer requirements. Inspection techniques and methods consist of but not limited to visual inspections, diagnostic analysis, vehicle operations, component testing, verifying function tests and utilization of calibrated test equipment. Inspector duties include constant observation of task being performed and expectation is to assist in coaching and training employees. Quality control inspectors responsible for inspecting equipment IAW applicable TM's for all wheeled and non-wheeled ARMY equipment such as HMMWV's, GSE, MHE, Trailers, Tracks and MRAPs . Inspectors are expected to understand improvement concepts to identify potentials for product improvement and first time pass. Quality control inspector must be able to conduct research to assist in trouble shooting and understanding of product functionality to ensure work is performed correctly and efficiently each time. Quality will assist maintenance and logistics personnel in preparations for maintenance cycles and equipment maintained in storage by assisting in providing statistical data, trend analysis data and current equipment technical data updates to ensure accurate resources are determined in preparations for production. Participates and help drive continuous improvement principles and practices. Enforces department and program policies and procedures. Quality inspectors must be able to communicate clearly and work well with all employees and customers to ensure correct information flows consistently. These communications techniques consist of oral and written. Quality inspector will be required to create documents using MS Office tools to assist in training, briefings and presentations when applicable.



  • Eight years directly related work experience.

  • Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source with a major study in electrical or automotive repair, or equivalent, is preferred.

  • Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License.

  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.

  • In lieu of formal course work, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered.

  • U.S. Citizen.

  • Previous or current CAC card holder preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) requirements.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain local base access.
