Senior Program Manager


The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Center for Operational Analysis (COA) requires one (1) Senior Program Manager to provide cost, schedule, and performance analysis and assessment of the various projects, research, and technical data included on COA contracts. This position will support the development of requirements, processes, research and development of various operational and academic strategies as determined by the COA Director. This person will schedule and conduct meetings with customers from across the Air Force and within the AFIT academic community, following up with execution of work that is decided upon in the meetings.Education / Experience: A Master’s Degree in Engineering or an acquisition related area and ten to twelve (10-12) years of experience in Program Management are required. Either APDP Level III Program Management or a PMP is required.Experience working in AFLCMC (or predecessor organizations) program offices is preferred. Joint, Air or MAJCOM Staff experience is highly desired. APDP Level II or equivalent industry certifications in another functional area is desired.The Senior Program Manager must demonstrate comprehensive experience and knowledge of:

  • DoD and Air Force acquisition processes and execution (cost, schedule, performance, and risk) of a program

  • Requirements Planning

  • Resource Planning

  • Integrated Master Schedules

  • Financial Management

  • AF POM/budgeting

  • Risk Management

  • Contract Management

  • Stakeholder ManagementThe Senior Program Manager will need to show practical and demonstrated program management skills with emphasis on leadership, requirements definition, and execution experience with the following characteristics: Possess outstanding writing and briefing skills; Provide detailed cost, schedule, and performance tracking; Understand the full DoD Life-Cycle Acquisition Processes and Policies; Evaluate program risk; Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the desire to be a part of an integrated team of both government and contractor personnel; Ability to interact with senior leaders, Conduct analyses, identify discrepancies, and provide corrective action plans; Ability to lead and supervise a team; and Prepare Statement of Work (SOW) requirements for new efforts.This position will be a key member of a high-impact, fast-paced, high visibility team.
