Senior RF Engineer

RF ENGINEER

This position will perform as a competent specialist, consultant, and/or advisor on assignments requiring advanced application of technical or engineering principles relative to Radio Frequency Engineering. Assignments are generally complex in nature with considerable discretion given to work details and approaches utilized. Specific responsibilities will include:

Provides support in the design, development, and testing of radio frequency (RF) and/or microwave systems architecture, components, circuits or products. Efforts may include analog and digital circuits or products, analog and digital design, frequency synthesizers, amplifiers, transmitters and receivers, down converters, frequency multipliers, digital logic, demodulators, Land Mobile Radio systems, SATCOM, commercial communication systems, (SDR) software defined radios, Wi-Fi, cellular, Tactical Communications, down converters, filters, and antenna systems ranging from arrays to parabolic reflectors.

Performs, or directs the performance of complex engineering assignments involved in the research, design, and development of an overall project comprised of a number of equipment or systems. Works independently, directing and coordinating the work of technical personnel engaged in the compilation of engineering data, construction and testing of systems, designing component circuits, writing reports and test procedures. May manage performance of assigned support personnel. Performs other functions necessary for the completion of engineering assignments.

Maintains liaison with other engineering and scientific organizations to keep abreast of developments in similar fields or programs and coordinates group activities with those of other engineering groups. Introduces new technology into system designs to enhance performance or reduce cost.

Evaluates engineering progress, developments, and findings to assure technical adequacy to meet operational demands and conformance with established standards and practices.

Originates engineering plans, ideas, schemes, and techniques as may be required to direct the efforts of assigned personnel in the achievement of desired results and objectives. Manages RF projects from concept to delivery of hardware solution. Acts as primary lead with customer on engineering assignments. Provides updates and recommendations to customer, cost estimates and project schedules. May provide briefings and technical training on RF systems

Prepares plans, process specifications and procedures. Prepares studies, cost work standards and assignments of similar complexity and magnitude requiring a comprehensive knowledge of electrical and manufacturing theory and design.

Compiles and evaluates test data, prepares technical analysis, recommends methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes. Provides support in technical matters relating to Engineering Change Notices, rework, or other difficulties and specifications of a moderately complex nature. Conducts analyses or tests pertaining to the development of new methods, materials, processes or standards and provides recommendations accordingly. Coordinates with other technical support personnel.

Qualifications

Education

Level III

  • BS in Engineering with at least 8 years of experience working with RF components and systems.

  • Experience testing, maintaining and troubleshooting antenna systems ( 1 meter -12 meter dishes) to include controllers, motor/drive assemblies, reflector structure, RF cabling, and RF feed assemblies.

Level II

  • BS in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience working with RF components and systems. In lieu of formal education 13 years of related engineering or applied science work experience.

  • Experience testing, maintaining and troubleshooting antenna systems ( 1 meter -12 meter dishes) to include controllers, motor/drive assemblies, reflector structure, RF cabling, and RF feed assemblies.

  • An active TS/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph is required.
